Hello there,
I am the media artist that has made the contents of this page that you have either viewed or are about to. To me, media arts consist of particularly filmmaking, photography, screen writing, and graphic design.
Why film you ask? Well, ever since I was a kid the glowing box that sits in front of just about every person in the world has entranced me. I have been obsessed with film for years, I watch at least three or four a week with out even consciously knowing it; this goes hand in hand with a select special TV shows. It is one of the main points of my life style, I I loose myself in the stories, my jaw drops at the cinematography and I know just about every cast and crew member on set. I love the elaborate process that comes behind making film, and so I figured “why not study it?” Film is one of the main things we as a society take advantage of. It is something we just sort of except to be there to entertain us and we never look past that. But that’s not right, there is so much that goes into making a film, ranging form dealing with thousands of people at a time, to basic human physiology. And I got to say every day I make more film I love it more every time. It takes a high tolerance to edit and deal with all the other tedious issues that come with film. But I wouldn't want to be doing any thing else with my life. I worked on a documentary for two weeks a couple years back and I would spend every night of the weeks staying up till 6 in the morning editing and then getting up the next day at 7 do work some more. And one evening late at night my producer told me something that has stuck in my head still to this day that continues to drive me to be a film maker. I hadn't showered for a few days because I was so busy working, and I walked by my producer and he stopped me to say “Seth there are two conclusions I can draw form the smell you emit when you walked by, 1. you need a shower. And 2. you are really committed to making movies.”
I do conceptual photography to constantly manipulate reality and filter my eyes like a lens in every day situations. I look at life like I am constantly behind a camera. I write screenplays that are also reflective of the concepts I use in my photography. I love to tell stories that make people laugh and think. I am constantly inspired by the human mind and condition to further understand why as humans we think the things we think, say the things we say, and do the things we do. My favorite kinds of movies are “Dramdies,” I love movies that make you laugh and at the same time make you feel more then just nothing when seeing a movie. I have an obsession with the “1950's Film Noir” style. Some of the most beautiful photography I have ever seen ranging form the fem fatal to the high contrast black and white, this sort of style is frequently featured in my work and I am going to bring back the style. I grew up with “Monty Python” and still today they continue to be one of my biggest heroes and influences. I love to bowl, I am actually a pretty good bowler I was the captain and coach of my high school bowling team. And then I guess personally in my line of work a person has to be tolerant of the computer, and I use the computer a lot and it has become one of my favorite tools, and yes I am a Apple man.
I hope you enjoy my art.
